Location
Caselle in Pittari is a village in the Parco nazionale del Cilento e Vallo di Diano, tucked away atop a hill at 444m above sea level and overlooked by the medieval tower. From here, visitors can cast their gaze northwards to admire the majesty of the highest mountain in Campania, Mount Cervati (1898m), the incredible source of the River Bussento, which crosses the area of Caselle before arriving at Lake Sabetta, where it is then swallowed up by the earth at La Rupe, to the east of the village.
Finally, take a look at the stony Mount Pittari, whence comes the name of the village which guards the sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel (San Michele Arcangelo), who is highly revered by the inhabitants of Caselle.
